Thank you to the men who signed up for the “Help CMEN” list a few weeks ago.
We thank you for joining this list and being ready to help CMEN be able to move forward from the tragedy of Camp Shalom and the loss of our camp that we have had the privilege to enjoy for the past 20 years.
We all have some great memories from our CMEN events at Shalom and we hold the vision that we will be back there in the near future.
With this said, CMEN is not about a particular location or facility.
We are about community.
We want to make sure the CMEN community continues with all of us in 2019. While it doesn’t look like we will have the location that we’ve enjoyed for the past 20 years, it doesn’t mean that we’re not going to continue on!
We have already been actively looking into possible locations to create a CMEN almost Malibu Gathering for August/September 2019 in Southern California.
If you can help your community, now is the time.
Below are the challenges, considerations, and the opportunities, to helping CMEN continue to thrive.
- The facilities that we’re currently looking at for 2019 may cost more than what we’re used to. We are sensitive to this and want as many men as possible to attend CMEN 2019 to keep the inclusive community that we’ve built going strong!
- We did lose most if not all of the items that were in the containers on Camp Shalom’s property. These storage containers held our registration materials, our dining materials, our decorations, a couple of keyboards that we use for the evening entertainment, and so much more.
- While we do have deposits on file with Camp Shalom, these deposits are tied up. We are carefully considering options of these large deposits to see what is best for CMEN into the future.
- Since these deposits are tied up, and may very well hold our space for the years 2020 and 2021, we are in need of deposits for the new location for 2019.
It’s with these considerations that we’re thankful you’ve signed up for the Help CMEN. It’s with these considerations that we’re asking for your help to help our community…to help your community. We are all appreciative of any amount that you can contribute to help CMEN continue, not just for one more year, but for 20 more years.
